Vacations In New Hampshire, New Hampshire Resorts
Wednesday, January 16, 2013
We all love our children, but a family vacation stuck with the whole family every minute of every day can quickly turn into an absolute nightmare. If you're in the process of shopping family resorts in New Hampshire, ask the kids' activities question first.
Family resorts in New Hampshire vacations, particularly those in the Lakes Region and White Mountains, offer water parks, petting zoos, polar caves, water sports, skiing, and even a train that climbs Mt Washington. If you stay at a family resort in New Hampshire's Lakes Region, you're also only a few hours from Boston, site of the original Tea Party and birthplace of the American Revolution. You can't do that if you have the family with you. Parents need easy access to hospitals, pharmacies, and supermarkets.
Those visiting New Hampshire must take the time to check out the Sculptured Rocks Natural Area. Grains of sand in the current carved the walls of the canyon into amazing shapes.
The best way to truly enjoy the Sculpture Rocks Natural Area is to have the entire family dress in hiking gear and great shoes. Then, pack the necessities in packs along with a great picnic.
New Hampshire is a great vacation destination, especially if you like outdoor activity. Most people don't realize that such a small state has so much to offer, from its 18 miles of ocean coast to soaring Mount Washington to massive Lake Winnipesaukee. Beginning at the Massachusetts state line, the coast begins at a busy state park with nice sandy beaches and amenities such as restrooms and picnic tables. Not far inland and just north of New Hampshire's major cities of Nashua and Manchester lies the state capital, Concord, which is basically the gateway to the Lakes Region. Especially noteworthy are Newfound Lake, Squam Lake, and lakes Winnisquam and Ossipee. Just a little farther north, into the heart of the White Mountains, the views become even more dramatic.
In the White Mountains it is possible to swim in rushing rivers, fish in lakes and streams, hike the rocky-topped peaks, bicycle winding back roads, golf, play tennis or ride horses. The Lakes Region and the White Mountains are dotted with ski areas, such as Waterville Valley and Loon Mountain. Along the western border of New Hampshire, the Connecticut River divides the state from Vermont. The town features good restaurants, shops, theater and an eclectic movie theater. This region has its share of quaint towns, as well as Keene, a small city that hosts a state college.
Take in brilliant fall foliage as you hike along a beautiful trail on a crisp autumn day? This beautiful New England state, referred to as the Granite State, offers vacationers countless popular activities for all four seasons.
Temperatures can range from the record low of -47 degrees Fahrenheit, (recorded in January, 1934 on the top of Mount Washington) to the record high of 106 degrees Fahrenheit. Summers draw huge numbers of vacationers to this fun-filled state. Others are drawn to the mountains, lakes, and rivers of this great state. Old time New England charm shines through at the many harvest fairs, and the weather is delightful.
The New Hampshire mountain areas are plentiful in ski resorts, hotels, and chalets that draw snow lovers to the slopes. New Hampshire winters are long, and for those who don't partake in winter activities, spring is highly anticipated.
The more experienced skiers can opt for intermediate level skiing at the Waumbek Siding. This trail offers 1,100 vertical feet of skiing. The scenic White Mountains of New Hampshire are a popular tourist destination. Several resorts located in this area offer facilities for mountain biking, hiking, golf, swimming and horseback riding. Hotels and resorts overlooking lakes are also great spots for vacations. Fully equipped resorts promise a relaxed hassle free vacation.
Those considering New Hampshire vacations have wonderfully diverse terrain to choose from.
